Terms of Service
Last updated: July 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern access to and use of ExchangeCR and its API (the "Service"), operated by Xtelius ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
ExchangeCR is an independent informational platform that publishes the US dollar to Costa Rican colón (USD/CRC) exchange rate based on publicly available data from the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR) and the MONEX wholesale market, and provides an API to consume that information.
We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or associated with the BCCR, MONEX, or any financial institution. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.
2. Informational purpose — not financial advice
The information is provided for reference and informational purposes only. Rates may differ from those offered at bank or exchange-house counters and do not constitute financial, investment, accounting, or legal advice.
Any decision you make based on the information is your sole responsibility. Always verify with your financial institution before making high-value transactions.
3. Accuracy and availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep data current and the Service available, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, continuity, or freedom from errors.
4. API keys and access
API access requires a personal, non-transferable API key. You are responsible for keeping it confidential and for all activity carried out with it.
We enforce usage limits, including a per-minute limit and a monthly request quota. We may suspend or revoke keys in case of misuse, abuse, security risk, or breach of these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You must not: (a) exceed, over-automate, or circumvent usage limits; (b) resell, redistribute, sublicense, or make the data or API available as an equivalent or competing service without our prior written authorization; (c) present the data as official BCCR or financial-institution data; (d) reverse engineer, decompile, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure; (e) use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, or infringing purposes.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Commercial use of the API may require a paid plan. Prices, limits, and features are listed on the site's pricing section and may change with reasonable notice. Sign-up may be handled via direct contact while we enable online payments.
7. Intellectual property
The Service — including the site, code, API, SDKs, widgets, documentation, design, and marks — is owned by Xtelius and protected by applicable law.
Exchange-rate data comes from public sources; however, its collection, processing, analysis, and presentation through the Service are our own work. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service under these Terms.
8. Widgets and integrations
You may embed the widgets and banners provided by the Service, provided you keep attribution to ExchangeCR and do not alter them to misrepresent the information, its source, or its date.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Xtelius shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from decisions made based on the information, from inability to use the Service, or from interruptions or inaccuracies.
Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service during the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to hold Xtelius harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or breach of these Terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, for breaches of these Terms or for operational or security reasons, without prejudice to our other rights.
12. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the current version with its update date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Costa Rica.
